D-lactic acid is a chemical substance. The molecular formula is C3H6O3. D-lactic acid 90% is a highly optically active (chiral) lactic acid produced through biological fermentation technology using carbohydrates similar to sugars as raw materials. D-lactic acid finished product is a colorless or light yellow clear viscous liquid with a slight sour taste; It has hygroscopicity, and aqueous solutions exhibit acidic reactions. It can mix freely with water, ethanol, or ether and is insoluble in chloroform.

Mainly used in the processing and manufacturing of polylactic acid materials, as well as the synthesis of chiral drugs and pesticide intermediates.

High optical purity D-lactic acid (over 97%), as a chiral center, is a precursor of various chiral substances and an important chiral intermediate and organic synthesis raw material. It is widely used in the chiral synthesis of pharmaceuticals, efficient and low toxicity pesticides, herbicides, cosmetics and other fields. For example, Japan's Taira Chemical Industry Company uses D-lactic acid to produce the excellent herbicide Puma Super. The German company Hoeehst has also developed a new highly efficient herbicide, Whip Super, using D-lactic acid as the raw material, a German company, produces herbicide Duplosan using D-lactic acid isopropyl ester as raw material and has already launched it on a large scale in the market.
